The Poker Players Alliance thanked poker players for their contributions to aid for earthquake stricken Haiti. The PPA is a poker advocacy organization with over a million members in the United States.

"Like the rest of the world, the poker community is eager to do anything it can to aid Haiti in the wake of the devastating earthquake. I applaud PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Cake Poker for providing poker players across the globe an easy way to make a contribution," said former Senator Alfonse D’Amato, chairman of the PPA.

The three online poker websites have created new web pages on their sites where players may make donations to Haitian relief. Online tournament fees from Cake Poker and Full Tilt Poker are being donated to Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders or UNICEF. Players at PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Cake Poker may also donate funds from their online accounts to the Haiti Fund, which will make donations to the three relief organizations. All three poker sites will match player’s donations dollar for dollar.

So far, more than $750,000 has been raised from donations by over 50,000 players. This total has doubled to $1.5 million due to the matching donations from PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Cake Poker.

"The generosity online poker players are showing makes me even more proud to be part of this community," said D’Amato.
