In 3 short but thrilling years, the World Series of Poker Europe has become one of poker’s most prestigious events. For a second year in a row, ESPN2 will cover all the exciting poker action from the world renowned Empire Casino in London, England. The WSOPE is sponsored by Betfair.
As a follow up to their excellent WSOP Main Event coverage in 2009, ESPN2 has plans to present two additional episodes on the Caesars Cup Tournament.
The Winners Bracelet, bragging rights and the first Caesars Cup are all on the line as the WSOPE commences on ESPN2 starting Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010 at 11 p.m. ET, followed by the second exciting episode on Monday, February 1, 2010. The tournament features top poker professionals including Daniel Negreanu, Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, Gus Hansen, Annette Obrestad, Peter Eastgate and Patrik Antonius. Playing in the WSOPE will be 6 WSOP Bracelet holders including 2 members of the 2009 WSOP final nine. The tournament follows a Ryder Cup format, with Team Europe vs. Team Americas playing both singles and team matches.
The World Series of Poker Europe Main Event commences Sunday, February 7, at 10 p.m. ET. A spot at the final table will be up for grabs as the participating poker pros and many other skilled players battle for the much coveted WSOPE Bracelet and the winner’s purse of almost $1.3 million. The remaining two players from the final table will meet later for 3 hours of head to head play to decide the WSOPE tournament winner. The WSOPE is sure to wind up in an action packed finish as ESPN2 provides coverage of all the dramatic final hands.
Lon McEachern and Norman Chad will once again announce all the exciting play from the Empire Casino in Leicester Square.
