The good news from the home front is that it looks like winter has finally run its course and it was actually warm here this week. Despite a fourth-quarter profit of $298.3 million, revenues declined by 10 percent in the Las Vegas market. Harrahs did manage to reduce their loan debt by one billion dollars by amending loan terms but they still owe lenders 5.5 billion dollars. Harrahs is optimistic that the new loan terms will give them much needed breathing room to regain a firm financial footing. They are attempting to reduce their overall debt from $23.1 billion as of Dec. 31, 2008, to $19.3 billion by the end of September, 2010. To help reach that goal, Harrahs recently launched their first online casino, Caesars Casino Online.
