Legal Online Gambling Will Raise Billions for USA - The Best Online Casino Guide Blog

The attempt by many to legalize online gambling in the United States got more support recently, in the form of a major study by H2 Gambling Capital. The study shows that if online gambling and sportbooks were legal and regulated in all 50 states, over 32,000 jobs would be created and $57.5 Billion in taxes would be generated over the next five years. Even if just online gambling was legalized and not sportsbooks, there would still be 25,000 jobs created and $30.8 billion in tax revenue over five years.

This study and others like it strongly support the case of Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), the Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, whose Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection, and Enforcement Act (HR 2267) is designed to legalize and regulate online gambling in the United States. Franks and others have made a strong case for legalization in order to not only generate tax revenues and create jobs but in order to stop the out flow of U.S. dollars to foreign economies. H2 Gambling Capital’s study has shown that over $105 billion a year is being bet offshore by U.S. citizens with the current situation of online gambling being illegal in the United States.

“This study should provide further incentive for the Obama Administration and Congress to act quickly to regulate Internet gambling,” said H2 Director Simon Holliday. “Furthermore, the current situation where United States players use offshore sites causes billions of dollars to leak out of the economy each year and leaves tens of thousands of players without any onshore regulatory protection.”

The staff of http://www.thebestcasinoguide.com/ as well as many of our readers have said much the same thing for quite some time now. Due to the total paralysis in Washington, little if anything, has been done on HR 2267. The issue of legalizing online gambling seems to be dead in the water at the moment. It boggles the mind to wonder why on earth the current U.S. President and his Administration would pass up an opportunity to generate over $50 billion in taxes and create thousands of new jobs.

We can only wonder what the real intention is here? It is obvious that American citizens are going to continue to gamble at online casinos. So what is the alternative? Does our government intend to imprison gamblers, seize their banks accounts and control access to the Internet to stop any participation by Americans in what is an adult activity? An activity that is paid for with our own hard earned money that we have already paid taxes on. One can only wonder if the total lack of action is a prelude to some more draconian enforcement of a ban on Internet gambling that paranoid people are predicting. We would hope that this is not the case and now that our President, for better of worse, has gotten his pound of flesh with his Health Care bill (or the forced health insurance bill if you prefer), there will be positive action on HR 2267.

It is time for those opposed to legal online gambling to wake up and  understand that as tax paying adults we have the right to gamble online. Especially since so many in the government who are opposed to legal Internet gambling have been documented to take campaign donations from Las Vegas Casinos and Major Race Tracks. This kind of hypocrisy is typical of those opposed to legal Internet gambling and it has to stop. Trying to protect legal land based gambling in a Senator or Congress person’s home state by banning internet gambling is not a solution. It is dishonest and smacks of protectionism. If it is legal to gamble in Las Vegas or Atlantic City, then don’t preach to us about the evils of Internet gambling.

These same people who oppose Internet gambling have to understand that we are not asking for the “wild west” all over again. We are asking for Regulated, Controlled, Taxed and Fully Monitored Legal U.S. Owned and Operated Internet Gambling. We want this done in order to bring American dollars and jobs back to America and to generate massive tax revenues. Unless you seriously intend to fine and imprison the millions of Americans who are currently gambling offshore on the Internet, the time has come for those who are obstructing legal Internet gambling to wake up and help America make a comeback from the serious economic crisis we are all facing. To continue to obstruct Legal Internet Gambling is to advocate for higher unemployment, less tax revenues to rebuild our economy and to allow billions to flow to foreign countries. This is not in the best interests of the United States and to obstruct legal online gambling is to hurt the United States. This is not the patriotic thing to do. We would suggest to those who ramble on about how “If gambling were legal on the internet people will gamble 24/7″ etc. etc. to wake up and realize we are living in a modern computer age. Get with the program and legalize Internet gambling now. Stop trying to tell others how to live and what to do in their own time with their own money. Help rebuild this country instead of trying to impose your outdated morals on everyone else.

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.
